People are often confused as to the difference between capers and caperberries.
Wild caperberries are the fruit of the caper bush (capparis spinosa) while capers are simply the immature buds.
The berries are oblong, slightly green fruits that are about the size of a grape.
They grow wild throughout the Mediterranean area, have a much milder taste than capers (due to a smaller amount of acid) and also have a slight lemon flavor.

These caperberries in brine have a zesty tang almost reminiscent of eucalyptus and a slightly grainy texture that will delight your taste buds.
There are so many ways to use this unique vegetable. Generally, these berried are enjoyed in the same way you eat olives or pickles. Keep in mind that sliced caperberries work well in recipes that call for capers, especially if you wish to have the dish be less acidic. Just remember that substituting capers for carperberries rarely works.
